Greetings from the Cave,Here we go… my very first newsletter. It feels a bit like striking a match in the dark and watching the light slowly bloom.Thank you, truly, for being here—for subscribing, for your curiosity, for your quiet “yes” to my work. This morning began with a visit from an old friend. I found myself seated on my favorite rock along the Clackamas River—the very one I grew up across from when I lived in Estacada. Some places don’t forget you, even after time has passed. They simply wait. And as if on cue, the osprey came. They perched just above me, watchful and sovereign, before diving—twice—into the river’s skin. To witness a raptor fully submerge and rise again, wings heavy with water and a fish clasped in its grip… it still takes my breath away. It always has. When I was little, there was a nesting pair across the river from my home. I would spend hours watching them, utterly convinced I could slip out of my body, take to the sky, and become one of them—soaring back to the nest with dinner for my waiting young. That kind of belief… the kind that makes magic feel inevitable. I think some part of me still believes. In Nordic folk traditions, there is a knowing that we can communicate with all living things—that the boundary is thinner than we’re taught. Yesterday, I experienced something that felt like a wink from that world. The osprey above me began to bob its head side to side. Without thinking, I mirrored the movement. Back and forth we went, a quiet, playful exchange between species. In that moment, time folded in on itself. I was a child again—wide open, enchanted, belonging to everything. It reminded me that this connection never leaves us. It simply waits for our attention. As these early days of spring unfold, I hope you find moments to step outside and remember. To feel the air on your skin, to notice what’s stirring, to let yourself be in conversation with the living world again. The magic is not hidden—it’s patient. Spring has certainly sprung here at Caveside Wellness. It feels as though everything I’ve been tending through the darker months is now beginning to rise—soft shoots breaking through rich soil.
